​For the first time in our Association's history, the NPSA Board of Directors has chosen to support a charitable cause, reflecting our commitment to making a global impact. We are excited to announce our partnership with AHOPE for Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children in Ethiopia.

About the Initiative
Our focus is to assist AHOPE for Children in their ambitious plan to construct a five-story building on their property in Ethiopia. This facility will serve as a critical resource, providing space for offices, classrooms, and dormitories. It will enable AHOPE to expand their outreach, educate more children, and offer a safe, supportive environment to those in need.

​The National Portable Storage Association, with the help of it's members, is seeking to raise $250,000 to break ground.  This new facility will provide essential services, including case management, healthcare, and secure housing, while also offering a revenue-generating space for community businesses. Your donation can help us bring this vision to life, creating a permanent, safe, and supportive environment for the children and families we serve.

How We Came to Know AHOPE for Children
In April 2024, AHOPE for Children reached out to the NPSA seeking assistance with the supply of storage containers for their headquarters in Ethiopia. During our Annual Convention in Washington, D.C., representatives from AHOPE, Julie Wadler and Leslie Wadler, met with Phil Herndon of Container Solutions. This meeting laid the foundation for a promising partnership, as AHope expressed their vision for supporting children in need.

Phil continued to build this relationship and in September 2024, embarked on a three-week trip to Africa, including Ethiopia. This trip provided Phil the opportunity to visit AHOPE’s facilities and witness their impactful work firsthand. During his travels, Phil encountered a generous individual in Nairobi. In a remarkable coincidence, this individual also collaborates with AHOPE in Ethiopia. Their shared mission led to discussions about AHOPE’s planned building project.  This inspired Phil to bring the idea of supporting AHOPE to our Board of Directors, leading to the launch of this 2025 Impact Challange.

The NPSA Board of Directors has made a commitment to AHOPE as being our selected charitable cause for the next six months.  Visit AHOPE for Children to learn more about their mission.

Why AHOPE for Children?
We understand that our members come from all over the world and are champions for charitable entities within their own lives. So why this one? Here’s why AHOPE for Children stood out:

• They came to us: This is not about supporting a specific member's favorite charity. AHOPE for Children approached us directly, seeking help with a meaningful initiative.
• Neutral and inclusive: AHOPE is not affiliated with any faith system, making it acceptable to all members regardless of personal beliefs.
• Supporting the abandoned: They serve HIV-positive orphans in Ethiopia—children who have been essentially abandoned by their society and have no support system without organizations like AHOPE.
• Impactful use of funds: A charitable dollar goes much further in Ethiopia. Their budget of $750,000 for a five-story building highlights just how far our contributions can stretch.
• Accountability: AHOPE's U.S.-based leadership has successfully led this organization for 14 years.

​Most of our Members are based in North America, Why Not here?

• While we value local causes, we recognize that the West is relatively well-funded, whereas developing countries lack such resources. The need is greatest among those who have the least support—which is why our generosity is so vital.

Looking Ahead
From its beginnings the NPSA has had a tremendous impact on our businesses and industry. Now it's time to have an impact on the underserved.  This initiative is the first step by our Association to collectively provide a real solution for a group that will transform the work they do in ways never before considered possible.

​This charitable cause is just the beginning. The NPSA is planning to support other charities in the future, and we ask our membership to consider where we can provide transformational impact in 2026 and the years after.  If you know of a worthy cause that aligns with our mission and values, we encourage you to share it with us.
